The Clifton Diocese University Catholic Chaplaincy has been around in its current form since 1964, when the house was acquired by the Clifton Diocese. Since then, a chaplain has been in permanent residence. Our home at 103 Queens Road is the centre for Catholic students studying at all university in the Bristol area.
The building is Grade II listed, late Georgian design of limestone ashlar elevations and attached Chapel. The property has recently undergone extensive refurbishment greatly improving facilities for the students and offers superior, high-quality and welcoming accommodation.
Each term the Chaplaincy has a full programme of opportunities for worship, formation and, offers its residents a unique opportunity of living in an adult Catholic community.
Our rooms and facilities
The rooms vary in size and price, but all feature and have access to:

- High quality fixtures and fittings

- Large common room
- Bike store and racks
Rooms range from 11.1m² to 34.5m²
The building is strictly a non-smoking building.
Amenities
Complimentary Wi-Fi
There is a complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the building that students may use.
Laundry room
There is a laundry room on site for student use. There is a coin machine with a fee to pay per load.
Dining-room
A dining-room is attached to the kitchen, allowing communal-style meals.
Common area
The common area is fitted with: Two large built-in bookcases which are filled with books, a range of sofas and armchairs and a television.
Bike store and racks
These are available for student use.
Kitchen
The kitchen is fitted with: Three large fridge-freezers, three built in ovens, a 5-ring induction hob, a dishwasher, storage space, a kettle, a microwave and indoor recycle bins.
About the Chaplaincy accommodation
The residency is owned by Clifton Diocese to help Catholic university students to nurture their faith. Priority will go to Catholic students who are able to commit to the full academic year. Regretfully, we are unable to offer places to students who are married, ordained or members of a Religious Order.
The rent is inclusive of all utility bills, however, you will require an individual TV licence should you bring a TV for your bedroom. There is access to complementary Wi-Fi but we are not liable to keep it consistently working.
NO RESPONSIBILITY IS TAKEN FOR THE LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY. Students should consider their own insurance cover.
All bedrooms will be fitted with the following (as a minimum): Single bed mattress and mattress protector, a bedside table, a desk with noticeboard, a desk chair, a wall mirror and coat hooks, wardrobe and blackout roller blinds.
All EnSite bathrooms will include: a shower, a toilet, a sink, a toilet roll holder, a toilet bin and a mirror.
Applying for accommodation
Accommodation is offered for a full academic year.

Please include an accompanying letter, giving full contact details, date of birth, a brief description about yourself and highlight which 3 rooms you would be interested in occupying in order of preference. Please include why you wish to live in the chaplaincy and what contribution you would make to the chaplaincy community. Please include a reference from your parish priest within your application.
Once your application has been approved, we will notify you and your details will be forwarded to Digs Professional Student Letting.
Digs Professional Student Letting will co-ordinate the Tenancy Agreement and provide details of deposits and guarantor requirements. Once everything has been signed by yourself and Digs, this will be passed onto us to keep on record.
On the moving in date, you will collect your keys from Digs, but they will go through this in more detail.
In order for the University Catholic Chaplaincy to retain and build upon its ethos as a Catholic residential community, we do expect applicants to be those who want to participate fully in the community and spiritual life of the house.
For our part, we will seek to help you develop your experience of the Catholic Faith in ways which are positive and enriching. We base this on Community, Faith and Friendship.
In order for us all to achieve these aims, there are some general ground-rules for all residents at the chaplaincy which we would like to make clear at the outset:
- We expect all residents to attend and actively participate in the Sunday Liturgy.
- You are expected to promote and contribute to keeping a happy, quiet and clean house for all occupants to enjoy.
- We expect residents to be respectful to one another and not to make noise after 11pm.
- We do not permit overnight guests.
Management of the Building
The property is fully managed by Digs Professional Student Lettings Agency, who are based in Clifton, Bristol. They will be your first point of contact for any maintenance related issues.
They will go through the whole renting process with you and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Privacy Notice
The information that you submit, as part of your application to reside at the chaplaincy, will be used to assess your application and to communicate with you directly. Your data will be stored securely and we will only share information with your express written request, i.e., future landlords.
